Use Meibographer to Detect Early Dry Eye

04/03/25

Effectively treating a dry eye patient requires both a functional assessment of oil production and a structural analysis of the Meibomian glands.

Functional Assessment

During a traditional slit lamp examination, always apply gentle pressure along the lid margin to evaluate oil expression, assess its quality, and observe any pain or sensitivity. These indicators provide valuable insights into the functional capacity of the glands.

Structural Assessment

Meibography, on the other hand, reveals structural changes that may explain reduced oil production, the severity of the condition, or its chronic nature. It also helps identify remaining but damaged gland structures, offering a more comprehensive understanding of the disease progression.

Using MeiboVue for quick screening

MeiboVue is a smartphone meibographer that allows clinicians to quickly capture meibomian glands images with a smartphone. It is a truly portable meibographer that allows clinicians to do fast meibography check anytime anywhere.
